A group of Walla Walla Community College students received their GED's Tuesday evening through the Skill Steps Program. It's designed for 18 to 24-year old's who are at risk or feel like they won't succeed in the traditional school setting.

Jesse Ortega is 19-years old and he received his degree Tuesday night. He said he couldn't be happier about this achievement.

"I'm really blessed," said Ortega. "I love the teachers here and they really helped me, but I think god is the one who got me through it."

Ortega said he'd like to encourage young students to fight for their education and it's worth the struggle. To learn more about this program head to our KLEW News Facebook page, just search KLEW News and like the page to join.
