PULLMAN, WA — After getting off to a modest start to the season, the Washington State Cougar baseball team has fallen on hard times. The Cougs have lost ten of their last 11 and Wednesday they had a big bounce back opportunity with Seattle University.
It was an afternoon affair at Bailey-Brayton Field between the Redhawks and Cougars. We pick things up in the seventh and this play right here is what you’d call ‘’glovely’ Shane Matheny throwing across his body and across the diamond and that effort kept this game tied at four until Blake Canton steps to the plate and blasts this two-run double down the line. Cougs up 6-4. They’d add to that lead in the home half of the eighth. Cal Watermanget off me ball. Cougs pick up a much needed 9-4 win.
WSU opens up a three-game weekend series against the Washington Huskies beginning on Friday.
