Cougs and a Warrior gets drafted to the MLB

Wednesday marked the last day of the 2018 MLB Draft and 40 rounds later and more than 1,200 names called, one of those names was a Lewis-Clark State Warrior.

In the 22nd round, the Toronto Blue Jays drafted Gage Burland.

Burland came to LC as a Gonzaga transfer and played mostly reliever for the Warriors in 2018.

He was also named to the All-NAIA West team.

It was a proud day for the Washington State baseball program.

Although this past season was rough, that didn’t stop the Cougs from having four players be drafted:

- Parker McFadden (pitcher) 16th round – Baltimore

- Scotty Sunitsch (pitcher) – 18th round – Milwaukie

- Ryan Walker – (pitcher) – 31st round – San Francisco

- Justin Harrer – (pitcher) 35th round – Pittsburgh
