LEWISTON, ID- The 35th annual Smash Bash Demolition Derby was held over the weekend at the freedom northwest arena..
"it's just mayhem and chaos, you know 500 car wrecks in one night, they're on fire, they're flipping over, and the drivers are putting on a heck of a show," said EC Enterprises owner Eric Christiansen.
And the fans sure got a show, as they even camped out on the top grass to get a good view.
There were full size trucks, to compact cars, and everything in between that participated in the derby.
The first event was compact all figure eight racing, as cars whipped around the tires, even causing some congestion on the track.
Then as Eric Christiansen mentioned earlier about the show, a car ended up flipping on its side. Firefighters came to assist, and they couldn't pull the car up, so it was Les Schwab tires that came in to save the day.
Towards the end of the show, it was the demolition part of the derby, where cars crashed into each other multiple times. Smoke was coming out of almost all the cars by the end.
