Momma Ferenz on being a coach and mom

Idaho women’s basketball will take on Montana State in the Big Sky quarterfinals tournament.

The Vandals had a great conference stretch, during the regular season, highlighted by first-team All-Big Sky player Mikayla Ferenz.

Coming from a basketball family, her mother Michelle, is the head women’s basketball coach at Whitman College in Walla Walla.

Momma Ferenz spoke about seeing her daughter shine, while coaching her own team.

“I won’t lie, it’s hard. It’s the hardest part of my job is not having the flexibility to be that mom that can be at everything,” Ferenz said. “The irony is: the more successful we are and the further we go into the tournament; actually, means the less chances I get to watch her play.”
