Vandals talk new rivalries
MOSCOW, ID —
On Monday, Idaho football players reported to campus for summer workouts.
Along with new faces and playing in a new conference, there’s one major feature that the overwhelming majority of Idaho football players haven’t had: rivalry week and rivalry games.
So, seniors Dave Ungerer, Kaden Elliss and Isaiah Saunders spoke about this new element:
UNGERER: “I don’t really know how rivalries work for the Big Sky for Idaho. I know we have Idaho State, I know we have Montana for senior night. Everyone seems passionate about all these Big Sky games!”
ELLISS: “My fiancé is from Spokane and I’ll go up and I’ll hang with her and her family and they’re like ‘You think you guys can compete with Eastern Washington?’ ‘You think you’ll be able to do well in the Big Sky?’ ‘It’s a pretty tough conference.’ And it is something that I can’t wait to show them how hard we are going to compete.”
SAUNDERS: “I used to always hear my dad talk about it when I was younger – about him playing against Idaho State and how he used to make fun of how they try to imitate the Kibbie Dome.”
