PULLMAN, WA- And the huskies may have clinched the series against Washington State, but WSU's Dakota Hawkins had a stellar outing on the mound in game one of the apple cup series.
So much so, that Hawkins was named as one of Collegiate Baseball's National Pitchers of the Week.
The recognition comes after a dominant career high 12 strikeout performance as he tied for the fourth most strikeouts in WSU single game history.
The senior went 6 and two thirds innings, and there was a reason for that because the huskies didn't have an answer. Hawkins allowed one run on just four hits, and
at one point had six consecutive strikeouts, or as WSU fans call it, gave them the chair six times in a row.
It's his second national honor for Hawkins this season.
