P1FCU Prep Athlete Danielle Mills has mastered all types of dance

Every Wednesday we feature an outstanding high school athlete who shines on the field, and in the classroom. This week’s P1FCU “Prep Athlete of the Week” is Danielle Mills of Lewiston High School.

If you asked this week’s prep athlete what her passion is, she wouldn’t just say it, she’d show you.

The Lewiston High School senior has been dancing for over ten years now. She said her first class immediately had her hooked and it all began back in third grade.

“I started with a jazz hip hop class and then my parents made me try out ballet and I found out that wasn’t for me,” said Mills. “I wasn’t graceful enough for that and so they also made me in sixth grade try Celtic. I tried it just to appease my mom and I’ve stuck with it this whole time and it’s my favorite so far.

Danielle’s skill set includes, jazz, hip hop, ballet, contemporary, tap and Celtic…and for all you non-dancers out there, that is basically every type of dance you can master.

But the 4.0 student also has a part time job, and if involved in a local youth group.

So what’s her secret to going above and beyond while keeping on top of a massively busy schedule?

“Lack of sleep, lots of coffee,” said Mills. “I put in a lot of late nights going to bed around 1am just doing homework.”

But with Danielle’s devotion and infectious energy, you can tell that despite the late nights, she’s created a lifestyle that she loves. And her next step...

“I’m gonna go to LCSC and I’m thinking of going into their psychology program,” said Mills. “I just always want to be the best I can be. If there is an obstacle I want to push through it. I want to make a difference and just be that one person that is noticeable.”

And that, you are Danielle! Congratulations you’re this week’s P1FCU “Prep Athlete of the Week.”
