P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week: Courtney Burt

Genesee senior Courtney Burt is a jack of many trades.

“I really like music and I play the piano.”

Aside from gracing the ivory, she’s a guard for the Bulldogs and plays volleyball.

With basketball being her favorite sport.

“I really like my team this year. We all get along really well and I play with some of my best friends. So, I would probably say that’s the highlight of this year.”

She isn’t the only one in her family who played sports for Genesee.

Her sister Brittany played as well.

Brittany plays a big influence on her younger sister’s life.

“She was a three sports athlete like me. When she comes home, I’m just like, ‘I want to be around her all the time.’ She’s just really funny and super positive. So. I really like being around her. I kind of idolize her so it’s kind of hard for her to do anything wrong.”

Her sister was also a big influence on her musical talents.

“My sister did it. She’s like one of my biggest role models. So, I kind of want to do what she did.”

On the piano, Burt’s favorite song to play is the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song.

Since she’s a senior, what she’ll study in college is still up in the air.

But there’s one field, she knows, she probably won’t be too good in.

“I think law enforcement is cool, but I don’t think I could be a cop,” Burt said. “I’d panic in situations where I’d have to arrest people or pull somebody over. I’d be too nice.”

Some of you heavy footed drivers might want her as an officer, could get out of some speeding tickets.
