P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week: Leah Higgins
COTTONWOOD, ID —
Prairie senior forward Leah Higgins his a highly involved student.
Aside from playing three varsity sports, he’s also in four other groups, including a Catholic Youth Group.
In that group, she’ll have the opportunity of a lifetime.
“We’re going to Haiti this summer for community service type thing,” Higgins said. “We’re going to help build an orphanage and help with people down there for over a week.”
Here faith trickles into her future school plans.
For as long as she can remember, she was a Gonzaga fan.
Like most high school seniors, thinking about where you are going to go to college can be stressful.
But Zaga is her top choice.
With her 4.0 grade point average, she already got accepted there.
“It was exciting (getting accepted),” She said. “I was really nervous at first because it took a while to get there. So, I wasn’t sure about that but when I finally got (the acceptance letter) it was really exciting.”
But there’s one thing that could keep her away from Spokane: Sports.
She has an offer to play volleyball for College of Idaho.
But she’s thinking college sports isn’t a huge priority to her.
“Because I’ve been really busy and I think I’m ready to just be done,” she said.
