P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week: Trey Dreadfulwater

There’s nothing dreadful about the play of Grangeville’s Trey Dreadfulwater.

“I love scoring,” he said while smirking. “That’s my favorite things about basketball.”

Dreadfulwater is the leading scorer for the 9-4 Grangeville Bulldogs.

Like a lot of athletes from the area, he’s not the first to play sports for his school.

“All my family played basketball, too,” He said. “So, it just kind of runs in the family.”

In fact, his sisters and mother are the ballers of the family.

All three of his sisters and his mother won state titles for Grangeville.

The men in his family have not.

“Well, I already have the scoring title in the family, 43,” He said. “So, it just makes me want to work for those state titles.”

Off the court, Dreadfulwater is quite the musician.

While his sisters were winning state titles, his brother introduced his to music.

He plays guitar and he’s in the choir.

“I don’t think I’m like the best singer,” He laughed. “But I think that I’m alright.”

Like basketball, choir requires performing in front of audiences and Dreadfulwater loves the pressure.

“I definitely perform better when it’s at a higher level.”

And that feeling about being on stage?

“Just kind of feels like I’m one of those people on TV,” he said. “Like on America’s Got Talent or something. No one really knows me but I’m trying to sing in front of them all.”

His favorite song to sing with his guitar?

Basically, any song by Ed Sheeran.
