LEWISTON, ID-The Genesee and Kendrick softball teams will play one another two weeks from today, but it's not just your regular softball game. It'll support a cause for women impacted by gynecological cancers.
The Lili GC Foundation is a non-profit organization in the LC valley founded by Jen and Joel Shubert in January of this year.
Their mission is to support the lives of women and families in the LC valley who have been impacted by gynecological cancers.
The foundation has a couple major fundraisers coming up, such as the color run and the gala & auction. Their first smaller scale fundraiser will be the softball game between Genesee and Kendrick.
I spoke with co-founder Jen Shubert about the softball game, and why raising awareness is so important.
"It got brought to us by Charise Burke, one of the coaches at Genesee," Shubert said. "They like to do a cancer support game each year, and Charise's mom was impacted by gynecologic cancer, so the cause is very near and ear to her heart."
"She reached out to us and asked if we’d be interested in partnering with us, and we're like heck yes."
The softball game is set for April 25th at 4:30 p.m. in Genesee. It's the first annual game, so be sure to stop by to support a great cause.
100 percent of the money raised will go towards the Lili GC foundation, and supporting the lives of women impacted by gynecological cancers.
